It’s Edgyplate’s favorite time of year, that’s right it’s HALLOWEEN!  Some millennial mommies out there know how hard this time of year can be for our kiddos with food allergies.  In the past, many kids either gave up all of the good stuff they got trick-or-treating or didn’t enjoy in the activity at all.  Well not anymore! Rock star moms, like us, are setting a new tone for Halloween making sure all kids, allergies or not, enjoy the spooky day.

In 2014, the Food Allergy Research & Education started a campaign called The Teal Pumpkin Project.  The Teal Pumpkin Project asks that households paint a pumpkin teal and place it outside to indicate they offer non food items for those kids with food allergies.  These non food items can consist of small toys, pencils, etc. In the first year, over 100,000 homes in the world participated.  To take the pledge, head on over to the FARE website here…

The Teal Pumpkin Project is a new idea, but a pretty darn cool one.  Not everyone is familiar with the idea so mommies need to be prepared to protect their little angels, witches, and superheroes with food sensitivities.  Eatright.org has come up with guidelines to keep your kids safe.  For more information on how to make Halloween fun and food allergy friendly, check out these neat ideas…
