Boozy Cupcakes

Make Happy Hour SWEET!
Homemade Margarita Cupcakes With Frosting

Desserts Is Stressed Spelled Backwards

Remember, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere in this big ol’ world, and Happy Hour might as well involve cupcakes wherever it is. Seriously, boozy cupcakes sound like exactly the cocktail we need – or the dessert we deserve. The Big Apple has bakeries “with a twist,” natch, but when we found the’s post about booze-infyoozed cupcakes at the Georgia Dome, we felt a real stirring in our post-football season heart. Delights by Dawn revved up Falcons with four flavors of cupcakes at the games. They were, in no particular order except our favorite first, chocolate cherry bourbon, strawberry colada, key lime margarita and red velvet chocotini. There are 10 flavors in all, and the owner, mysteriously identified as “Belisle” in the story – we surmise her first name is Dawn, but we could be wrong – reportedly said she’s going to expand to include something with a peachy flavor. Schnapps, maybe?

Read all about it at offered at the games: strawberry colada, key lime margarita, chocolate cherry bourbon and red velvet chocotini. Belisle’s shop currently sells 10 flavors and she plans on expanding the selection at the Georgia Dome as the season goes on, possibly including a peach-flavored one in homage to her adopted home state.

And to end The Scene for this installment, we give you Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey Cupcakes, complete with recipe. Cuz y’all are just our very bestest friends, and we love you so much. So promise you’ll call tomorrow, K?

Here ya go, starting with the link and then the recipe. We can’t promise how buzzed these will get you, but we know that Jack has always helped us get to that happy place. And we don’t mean Coney Island this time.

Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey Cupcakes with a Bourbon Drizzle (Lawdy!!)

Makes 1 dozen cupcakes

For the cupcakes

¾ c butter, softened

1 c sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

1½ c flour

½ tsp salt

1¼ tsp baking powder

3 Tbs Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey

3 Tbs milk

Cupcake liners

For the bourbon drizzle

¾ c brown sugar

½ c Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey

1 Tbs unsalted butter

For the buttercream frosting

1½ c butter, room temperature

3 c powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

2 Tbs Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey

¼ c heavy cream (as much as needed to get correct consistency)

To make the cupcakes

Preheat oven to 350F.

Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs and vanilla and mix just to incorporate.

Whisk together flour, salt and baking powder. Add to the wet mixture and beat until just combined.

Add the whiskey and milk until just combined.

Line 12 muffin cups with cupcake liners and divide batter evenly into cups; approximately ⅔ full for each cup.

Bake for 16 to 20 minutes; test with a toothpick; the top will be firm so make sure the inside is cooked through.

Cool completely on a wire cake cooling rack before frosting.

To make the bourbon drizzle

Add all ingredients together in a small pan, bring to a boil and boil for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool before drizzling on cupcakes.

To make the buttercream frosting

Cream butter until light and fluffy. Slowly add the powdered sugar.

Add the vanilla and Jack Daniels Honey and combine thoroughly.

Add the cream a Tbs at a time until your frosting is very light and fluffy and the correct consistency.

Using a large serrated icing tip, pipe the frosting onto cupcakes.

Garnish with the bourbon drizzle.

Sweet dreams, cupcake…
