Now, usually, Edgyplate uses The Scene to highlight the most wonderful drinks the adult beverage industry has to offer, but since Thanksgiving is about family…we can’t leave the kid’s out. When I was a kid, we had water (period). If we were lucky, my grandma would make her famous sherbet punch, those were the days. Now that I have little ones of my own, I wanted to create a drink that made them feel as special as adults do when have a warming cocktail.
I found this recipe on Food Network and I thought it looked so fun and yummy, I am definitely trying this one out next week.
Pecan Pie Soda
Directions
Bring 2 1/2 cups water, 1/2 cup each toasted pecans and maple syrup, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon each vanilla and lemon juice, and a pinch of salt to a boil, then simmer, reducing to 3/4 cup, about 40 minutes. Strain and let cool. Stir about 3 tablespoons syrup into a glass and add about 8 ounces of seltzer, stirring until combined. Garnish with the pecans.

One more, just in case the seltzer doesn’t appeal to the moms out there.
