Art and Wine? What could be finer?!

Sometimes it’s not all about food. Sometimes it’s also about wine. And art. And isn’t it the perfect world when it’s about both at the same time, as it is at Corks N Canvas?

This is a franchise that kicked off in 2007, conceived and birthed by Cathy Deano and Renee Malone in Mandeville, LA. Pairing “… instructional art with friends, wine and a lively instructor to produce individual works of art,” the company grew and franchised as Painting with a Twist a few years later. Last count there were 223 franchises across the country, including in Cali, where our very own research goddess Molly will soon be enjoying the aforementioned art, friends, wine and lively instructor.

If you go to the operation’s website, https://www.paintingwithatwist.com/about/, you’ll learn that your creative energies go toward “landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of seafood, animals, iconic buildings and florals.” Ah-HA! So food does enter into the mix after all.

But here’s the sweet twist with Painting with a Twist. “Because the company owners were both fundraisers in their previous positions, they have maintained that a core value of the company is to be an active member of the community and to focus on giving back. With this in mind, Painting with a Purpose was created. Painting with a Purpose is a monthly fundraising event held at all Painting with a Twist® locations as a centralized effort to raise funds that stay local in each market. The partnering nonprofits have included St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, the Al Copeland Foundation, Leaps & Bounds Sports Center and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.” Kudos to the founders, the franchisees and the participants – well done!

There’s another similar experience awaiting at Spirited Art, which is “an optimistic, creative painting class for folks who want to learn the basics of acrylic painting in the company of great friends and good wine.” We know when we get buzzed our creativity knows no bounds; so we’re tailor-made for these classes. Go to http://www.myspiritedart.com/ for more info, and be comforted to know you don’t have to draw a straight line to be a part of the fun. We just have to say it: LOL.
