Another hot new trend in the world of alcohol is East- Asian inspired drinks.  Forbes noted, “East-Asian Cocktails — Robert Haynes-Peterson, Spirits Writer “I think we’re going to see a continuing expansion and evolution of East Asian-influenced drinks. What does that mean exactly?  Well, flavors such as ginger, pear, and lychee are just a few that are going to make their debut in these tasty cocktails.  Sign me up!  Millennials are always looking for something interesting, this is the ticket. Check out these two Asian inspired recipes.

Asian Pear Mojito

INGREDIENTS

SERVINGS 1 UNITS US

1 spoon superfine sugar

2 ounces white rum

hand full mint leaf

4 lime wedges

splash club soda

2 ounces pear nectar

8 ice cubes and crushed ice

2 slices fresh pears

1 sprig mint leaf

DIRECTIONS

Muddle the mint, juice from 3 lime wedges and sugar.

Add 2 Oz of Rum

Add the pear nectar

Add 8 ice cubes

Shake vigorously

Strain into the glass full of crushed ice

Top the drink with club soda

Add sprig of fresh mint, lime wedge and pear slices.

Dragon’s Fire

INGREDIENTS

SERVINGS 1 UNITS US

1 1⁄2 ounces Absolut mandarin vodka

1 ounce Cointreau liqueur

1 dash lime juice

1 ounce cranberry juice

 

DIRECTIONS

Pour all ingredients in a shaker with ice.

Shake and strain 2 times in an iced cocktail glass (martini glass on the photo).

Garnish with an orange zest.
