What do you crave most in the way of snackies? If you’re anything like us, and we suspect you are, the answer isn’t always so simple. Sometimes you know that you will perish without chocolate, but really the chocolate should cover, oh, beef jerky to be totally effective in satisfying that all-consuming craving.

Right?

Believe it or not, there’s a study out there on what we as Millennials crave, when we crave it and how we take care of that critical snack need. Nuts? Sure. They’re healthy, got lots of good fats, but have you ever tried the rosemary-flavored or black pepper-dusted? Mama!

Spicy potato chips long ago turned the corner from BBQ to chipotle, olive oil, yada yada yada.

It’s no surprise that potatoes are the number-one snack – rip open that little (or big – what the heck) bag, and you’re good to go. But what is surprising is the amount of money we spend on chips. We’re thinking we’re in the wrong line of work, and maybe a cottage chip factory is in order.

Keep in mind this goes back a couple of years: “Potato chips are America’s number one snack, according to the group’s 2012 state of the industry report, and we spent $9 billion on them in 2010, 50 percent more than what we spent on the No. 2 snack, tortilla chips.”

Lotta chips.
